The 1 ¼” thick Carrara marble top is white with traces of gray veining. A similar white has been used to paint the iron base that is comprised of C-scrolls and floral motifs. The four legs, which sit on small block feet, are formed by large C-scrolls with floral terminals. An H-stretcher adorned with centrally located floral cups offers additional support. Both side connectors attach to the floral terminals of the legs and have a lobed finial noix. There is a third connector positioned higher up on the base that has a large floret center on each side, flanked by a pair of floral cups.
Although tables such as our 19th century painted iron table with marble top are seldom used in pastry or butcher shops today, it is still a highly functional and versatile table. Place it in the kitchen as a small breakfast table or a prep/display table at the end of an island. It can also be used as a console table in an entry hall or living room.
