The porcelain vase of typical bottle form, with a rounded globular body and tall, narrow neck, and surmounted by a squat lid. The vase wonderfully decorated in the traditional rose medallion color palette of mainly pink, green and orange, with additional yellow, blue, black, and gilt accents.
The design follows the typical rose medallion pattern of alternating reserves of brightly colored birds among peony sprays, and court scenes of figures in traditional . Between the reserves is a dense floral and foliate design with scattered butterflies against a gilt painted ground.
The oversized cover of flattened dome design decorated with a dense floral and foliate pattern, and topped with a gilt lotus bud shaped knob.
The raised enamels for the floral and bird scenes still quite bright and bold, while the more flat painted enamels of the court scenes more muted, and slightly faded, especially the faces.
