An unusual English Arts & Crafts pottery loop handled oil lamp the design attributed to renowned British designer Christopher Dresser (British, 1834-1904) and made by Linthorpe and dating from around 1885. The oil lamp is of squat rounded shape standing raised on a narrow round pedestal foot with a brass filler insert to the top with a push in fitted wick holder and glass funnel. The body is decorated in low relief with small flower heads set between four double loop handles applied equidistant around the body. The oil lamp is decorated with streaked green, brown and white glazes run down the body against a brown glazed ground. The base is impressed LINTHORPE and numbered 1456.

In good condition with a professional restoration to one handle.
