Set of 4 highly decorative, framed French tapestries in original condition, circa 1890s. Often used to keep out the cold, hand woven tapestries such as these were also used to tell stories or depicts images of the time period in which they were made. This particular set depicts lively scenes of everyday life of French nobility in the Loire Valley during the 18th century. You can almost hear the laughter and music portrayed in each as they tell the stories of the upper class. From the town fête to an evening at the theatre, these 19th century French tapestries would be a wonderful addition to a library, living room, or foyer. With their neutral brown tones and red accents, they will warm up any wall or room. Wear is consistent with age and use.
