20th Century Watercolor Portrait of a Woman With Chickens in a Basket

A wonderful mid to late 20th century portrait of a woman carrying chickens in a basket on her head, unsigned but attributed to Eleanor Maurice (American 1901-1995) who traveled to Africa, Europe, South America and the Caribbean for inspiration for her work. When we acquired the painting were were told that the family purchased this painting (and others we bought at the same time) from the artist. Watercolor painting, on textured watercolor paper, framed under glass. There are tack holes visible in both upper corners, the watercolor paper is slightly wrinkled/bowed due to the nature of watercolor painting, and there is a small chip in the frame in the upper left corner. Bold colors and a striking image.
