This exceptional antique American sterling silver bowl has a square rounded form with incurved corners, onto a circular collet foot.
Each side of the body of this unusual Gorham bowl is embellished with an alternating applied copper design modelled in the form of expedition and warrior characters, in addition to foliage surrounded by birds in flight.
The surface of the bowl is further ornamented with engraved grassy and rock based terrain textures, accented with foliage to the foreground.
The upper rim is encompassed with an applied moulded border.
