Originating from Russia between 1880-1890, this antique Karabagh rug enjoys a special variation of the Herati field design, sometimes known as the “fish” pattern for the resemblance of its finely stylized leaves in surrounding elegant rose patterns. Hand knotted in high quality wool, the combination of both idyllic burgundy red and atypical Egyptian blue and artisan beige colorways complements the rarity of this piece, as does the rich variation of the finely woven mirrored borders with leaf, vine scroll, and fence designs.
