The item is notable for its large circular top which is decorated with beautiful marquetry work. This includes a central medallion which contains marquetry stylised flowers and scrolled foliage. The medallion is encircled by a band which displays natural patterns created by the grain of the wood. This is edged with a marquetry border, decorated with scrolled foliage and flower heads. The tabletop can be tilted on its side so that one can properly see and admire the marquetry work.
The circular top is supported on a single turned stem. This stands on three cabriole legs which terminate in scrolled leafy feet. The feet are set on castors (wheels), allowing the table to be easily moved around in an interior.
