The marble-top of this carved marble-top console table is framed with heavy double molding. The top is removable. The frieze is carved with repeating diamond and circle patterns enclosing floral carvings in high relief. The corners have carved acanthus leaves in high relief. The cabriole legs are profusely carved with leaves and terminate in hairy paw feet in the front and scroll feet in the rear. The front frieze and carved apron are actually a secret drawer which is accessed by a secret hole in the central underside of the table. The secret drawer is thirty inches wide and fifteen inches deep. It locks automatically when the drawer is pushed shut.
