A matched set of Antique Chinese Lacquered Wooden Plates. Sculpted cut Elm wood sections joined together with wooden pins, wire banding and lacquer from the Qing Dynasty. A rare set of Antique Chinese Lacquered Plates. One plate pictures The Wolf Dog an auspicious animal, representing upcoming fortune, understanding human spirit, obedience. The second depicts the Dragon another auspicious mythical animal representing fertility, ultimate abundance, prosperity, good fortune, symbol for the Emperor, divine mystical creature, symbol of the natural world, adaptability and transformation. These two plates have been together for more then a century. Likely used for decoration possibly the individual Chinese Zodiac animals of a married couple. Great Chinese folk art. In good condition.
