A fine pair antique English majolica floral rimmed pottery plates by Wedgwood and dated 1872. The lightly potted plates are of simple rounded form standing on a round foot with a slightly raised edge molded in low relief with small flower heads set between a rope twist and raised bead border. The centre of the plates with a mottled glazed finish in green, yellow and brown. The rims of the plates are hand painted in tones of yellow, orange, green, blue and brown with white highlights with an orange painted edge and with mottled glazes to the underside of the edges and with simple light yellow glazes applied to the bases. Both plates have impressed WEDGWOOD marks along with three letter date marks dating the plates to 1872.
