We are delighted to offer for sale this stunning early painted circa 1880-1900 French Louis XV style Bureau plat writing table with later stool<\/p>\n

This is a wonderful find, the bureau plat is a proper late 19th century example in solid mahogany, it weighs a tonne for the size which is not surprising as all the fixtures and fittings are oversized solid brass, there is brass trim around the top of the desk and so on. I have been tempted to strip the paint off to see what the finish is like underside is like but the paint is so nicely aged I had to leave it as it is.<\/p>\n

The stool is later but matches perfectly, its very comfortable and has two large side rails for ease of entrance and exit<\/p>\n

Condition wise is perfect for the period, we have lightly cleaned waxed and polished it from top to bottom, it will have honest patination to the timber from genuine age<\/p>\n

Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of creasing and wear, we recommend annual waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.<\/span><\/p>\n
