French Art Deco Pendant Light by Charles Ranc – 1930 France – 5 Available

A wonderful French art deco pendant light in nickeled bronze or solid brass. The gorgeous mount holds a globe in clear frosted molded-pressed glass. The pendant is made by Ranc frères. Charles Ranc founded the company in 1909. It produced bronze lighting fixtures. And was based at 64 rue de la Foilie-Méricourt in Paris. Charles Ranc died in 1927. The company was taken over by his sons and renamed Ranc frères. Although it continued to use the name Charles Ranc in its product catalogs.
The globe in clear frosted molded-pressed glass is unsigned. And it is unknown which glass factory produced this model. They also exist with an acid signed signature of Cherrier et Besnus. Those were made on special order for the lighting firm of E. Cherrier. Two components of the bronze mounting are represented in the 1928 Charles Ranc catalog.
The pendant has a height of 43,5 cm (17,13 inches) and the globe has a diameter of about 26 cm (10,23″). It is in excellent condition. I have re-nickeled and patinated the mount. And the fixture is rewired with an American standard socket. For European countries I will place a E27 one.
