A rare antique Worcester porcelain melon shaped teapot and cover dating from around 1880. The teapot is of round melon shape and applied in relief with trailing leafy stems with a further stem forming the handle and with a molded leaf with stem handle forming the cover. The leaf and stem applications have been hand painted in black against the natural white glazed finish of the teapot and is both striking and attractive. The teapot has a an impressed Worcester mark to the foot rim with some further marks. The teapot is referenced in Millers Collectables 1989/90 edition on page 114 where it is recorded as RARE and valued accordingly.
